Don’t Suffer in Silence Anymore!

The shocking news the former Miss USA, Cheslie Kryst fell to her death on January 30th and according to People Magazine, it was ruled as a suicide. The 30-year old who was also a lawyer and a correspondent with EXTRA shocked the world falling from a New York City building.

Suicide is a delicate subject and must be handled with care while someone is dealing with depression. There are a lot of people who suffer in silence because they don’t either want to be a bother to loved ones or don’t have someone to talk to about their issues. You never know what someone is going through until they are really gone. No one knew Kryst was suffering in silence. Another shocking suicide death was Regina King’s son who was only 26 when he committed suicide. There are a lot of people who suffers in silence. That is why it is very important to be sensitive to people’s situations at times because you never know what they are going through.

“Don’t be afraid to ask for help! It is okay not to be OKAY!”

It is important to have a strong support system if you are suffering from a mental illness or is going through other issues that affects your mental health. I’m not going to lie, even though you may have a support system to help you through difficult times, you still may not open up to anyone. That was me plenty of times. I deal with mental illness daily and it is a struggle at times because you don’t know what your mood will be each day. Some days I feel okay and happy, while other days I don’t want to be bothered and I feel irritated. And there are times where I hate everything and what I do. You may think that sounds crazy, but it is what most people including me go through when it comes to depression and sometimes anxiety! Thank God I don’t suffer major depression, but depression is depression and it is real! I just wish a lot of people won’t suffer in silence like I have in the past because it makes things harder and your body seems like it’s shutting down from the stress levels and the amount of energy being drained from your body.

“Reach out and ask for help!”

Don’t be ashamed to see a therapist because that means you are taking a step in the right direction to fix whatever you are going through! That’s a big leap I must say. Also there is no time limit to how long you should be going to counseling. Whatever is bothering you, you should try to talk it out. Most people aren’t very good at expressing themselves verbally, but will express themselves well on paper. That sounds a lot like me because I am quick to express my feelings on paper rather than talking to someone about it. No one deserves to suffer in silence anymore! Let’s all help break the stigma of mental health and mental illness!
